Jen Nails It Pinterest Challenges
I am HOOKED on Pinterest!I love the luscious desserts and savory fare that make me drool over their sweet perfection. I covet the fashion and perfectly coiffed hair that seems so easy to copy and incorporate into my busy life. I salute all of the holidays that I never even knew existed. I too will celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day with all of the gooey goodness displayed in the magical squares of preparation perfection!
Pinterest is like a big happy smorgasbord of the best of everything and I can sample and even put things away for future conquest with a single click.
It's no secret that I am completely time starved. Everything I cook, craft or try to accomplish in a day has to be done with maximum efficiency in mind. When I am on Pinterest, logic and reason forget to inform me that some of this stuff would be impossible for me. Something needs 40 ingredients, two weeks of preparation and ingredients only found in a Moroccan market, I can do that! That Spaghetti sauce with the meat and cheese stuffed pasta that has been passed down for generations until it is embedded in your family's genetic code? I got that, and should be able to knock it out in about 45 minutes.
The fallacious belief that we can create everything we see on Pinterest has begun the "Nailed It" campaigns that have left many of us in stitches. You can check out my Pinterest board for some of my favorite Pinterest fails.
I believe that life should always be showered with moments of fun. To this end, I am embarking on the "Jen Nails It! Pinterest Challenge."
Here's a recap of my FIRST Pinterest Project:
As promised, here is the first of a two part debut for my Jen Nails It Pinterest Challenge. Where I promised to tackle the recreation of some "epic" Pinterest inspired projects.
After much discussion my family decided to have me recreate one of the many adorable baby photos you see on Pinterest.
Ready?
Ensue the Drum-roll please......
Ensue the Drum-roll please......
Here is baby Anneliese and I Totally "NAILING" this cute pink Santa baby picture we found on Pinterest
Uncanny how much the photos look identical right? Booyah, just call me the Pinterest master!
Here's a recap of my SECOND Pinterest Inspired Project:
Time for the Great Avengers Pinterest inspired cupcake reveal.
A few things:
1. After meticulously reviewing the picture from every angle in order to make sure I knew all of the colors and every nuance of the picture I decided I needed supplies!
2. With a visit to my local 99 cent store, I was equipped with my very own version of a cake decorating bag and different sized tips. Yippee! I have never owned such a thing. PISHAW to those who say we need to pay the big bucks in order to make great looking cupcakes. I will prove that wrong!
3. Ok, I got home and started making the cupcakes. Snap, all I had was Dora the Explorer cupcake holders. My son told me that no self respecting professional would ever have their Avengers cupcakes be in Dora the Explorer cupcake holders. Although he is right, no one would see the bottom part of the cupcake right, so CARRY ON!
4. WHAT! I am all out of yellow food coloring. What in the heck have I used that much yellow food coloring for? Back to the store to pick up more food coloring.
Here is a picture of my kitchen during the process, please don't pin this picture.....
Now onto decorating!
Wow this is kind of hard:
1. Note: To make the color black throw all of the dye colors into one bowl and keep mixing until it kind of looks like throw-up. Then add in more of all of the colors and voila, you now have black!
2. Do NOT try to frost while holding a baby in your arms.
3. 99 cent store cake decorating bags are not good at all!
4. Using that much frosting and food dye in one day will permanently stain your hands a kind of funky mottled color.
5. Do not drop the Captain America cupcake on the floor, we will cover later what happens if you do.
Alright they are finished. TA-DAH!!!!
Here's a side by side. I added a little beard to Thor to make him
look a little more manly.
Yup, EXACTLY alike :)
Now to the Slow Motion Replay:
The cupcake is the one on the bottom. Simply Uncanny!!!
And as for that Captain America cupcake that tried to get away? There isn't likely to be another sequel:
A few weeks back I introduced a new Jen Nails It Pinterest Challenge, wherein I was going Southern.
I, the little Hispanic girl, was going to try and make fried chicken and the whole enchilada. Um, make that grits casserole?
Here was the recipe and picture I snagged from Pinterest.
I also decided to make this cheesy grits caserole.
As the coup d'etat I pulled in this recipe for collared greens.
I really needed to Nail this as we all remember my attempt at a mystery craft challenge from last week....
NNNNAILED IT!!!!
There's more to come!!!
Send me an email if there is something you want to see me try.

Not so hot, huh?
Well so how did this one turn out? My extended family did not believe I
actually attempted this, so wha-bam, here are the pics to prove it.
Here's a complete look at the meal:
