Jen Nails It Southern Pinterest Challenge

A few weeks back I introduced a new Jen Nails It Pinterest Challenge, wherein I was going Southern.

I, the little Hispanic girl, was going to try and make fried chicken and the whole enchilada. Um, make that grits casserole?

Here was the recipe and picture I snagged from Pinterest.

I also decided to make this cheesy grits caserole.

As the coup d'etat I pulled in this recipe for collared greens.

I really needed to Nail this as we all remember my attempt at a mystery craft challenge from last week....

Not so hot, huh?

Well so how did this one turn out? My extended family did not believe I actually attempted this, so wha-bam, here are the pics to prove it.

Here's a complete look at the meal:

NNNNAILED IT!!!!

very nice! pinterest win!
It looks just like a meal I used to order at Lulu's Diner in South Beach Miami. Looks delicious.
Looks like you nailed it indeed. I grew up eating this kind of food.

Have a fabulous day. ☺
Definitely looks like you nailed the meal! Their craft project probably looked like yours about 2 seconds after they took the picture ;)

That makes me feel better about the peep house disaster. Thanks!
Yay! You're pinterest award winning chef. So how hard was it? Hypothetically if I'm a terrible cook (which is actually not hypothetical) could I try it and leave with something edible?

The grits and the collared greens were not terribly hard and the chicken was pretty repeatable. You just have to make sure you really watch the temp on the chicken and monitor it while it is cooking so it doesn't burn to a crisp.
The kids are asking when we can do the fried chicken again, also they really loved the collared greens which was a surprise. Jennifer did a great gob!
WOW! I feel like I just gained ten pounds reading this post. You might as well be a Georgian. Come on down --er over. Grits are so underrated. Aren't they fabulous? And I love how the peeps photo worked its way back. Makes me laugh every time.
You are a rockstar. That looks amazing and I want to eat my screen.
And thank you for making me chuckle with your peep craft and the 'nailed it' caption....it's still super cute. He's just settling in his house, that's all <3 :)
just adore you!
This is your best pinterest achievement to date! It came out pinworthy! Just divine..It's lunchtime and I'm hungry. I cant remember if I pinned the original recipe so now I'm gonna have to pin this just to be safe. I apologize if I'm duplicating pins here!
Come cook for me, Jen! Nailed it! I've never had cheesy grits. I'm naive and thought they were only a southern style breakfast food. Were they any good?
You TOTALLY nailed it! Go, Jen!
The meal looks DELICIOUS, and the peep craft is the best chuckle I've had all day, so good job all around.
Thank you for linking up to the Small Victories Sunday linky. As a southerner, looks like you did well! Nothing better than fried chicken. I have pinned this to our board.
