A Guide To Creating Magic

Today I created magic, not the sort that would help me fly to far away lands or the kind of magic that can vanquish the villain.

This kind of magic occurs only when you use your imagination.

My 6 year old daughter Rebekah and I created a fairy garden.

 Creating A Fairy Garden

*Use what you have on hand and let your child be the designer.  Perfection is overrated.

Most everything we used was already in our craft arsenal picked up from the bargain tubs at either Micheal's or the Dollar Store.

As we built the garden my daughter and I imagined all of the parties and dances that the fairies would have in the garden. We wondered which type of fairies they would be and what kind of magic they would possess. Would their be any tricks performed within the fairy garden? The possibilities for magic were endless.

One of my female heroes, Marjorie Pay Hinckley said that when she passed from this life she wanted to show up with a smudge of peanut butter on her shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children, a little dirt under her fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden and with children's sticky kisses on her cheeks.

I want the same, but with many moments full of magic.

Stay Happy and Stay Informed!

Love,

Jen

That is such a cute idea... When the weather gets warmer, I'll have to remember to try this with my girls. They'd love it

Thanks Celeste! I hope your weather gets warm soon :)
This is a sweet post. I love the "I love you" part of the welcome fairies sign. Kids bring the magic. It's great that you encourage it the way you do, I can see a childlike side to you but also a very nurturing side. It's beautiful! You're a great mom Jen!

You are so sweet. Thank you. Thank you. Sometimes you feel like such a mess as a parent. At least I know I do. Then you have moments like this that just feel so special you know you will hold onto it even after your child has outgrown her love of fairies.
Yesterday cupcakes and today a garden and you nailed both of them. Awesome.

Have a terrific day. :)

Yup, I've got my hammer and I am a rocking the house! :) Oh and my washing machine has already done 3 loads today as we discussed earlier on your blog :) Can't live without it!
This is the spring project I've been looking for! What did you put the fairy garden in?

Thanks Carolyn- It was an old long/rectangular flower pot that I picked up about a year ago and had been meaning to plant something in. Now we are growing fairies. Much better than what I had originally planned to use it for.
This would make our front yard look nicer. Everything is cemented and lacks in color. I just hope can find a pot big enough! :)

Oh that would be pretty to add into a cement/ grass free area. Now my kids would think that the all cement front yard meant that they could careen all over the place on their bikes and skateboards. Which would probably mean multiple trips to the ER....... Yup, definitely fill it up with fairy garden pots :0
Aww this is adorable! and the dollar store never ceases to surprise me. they have everything there. Back in Ca, the dollar stores have produce!

Isn't it awesome! I bought a whole bunch of produce there last week. I am in awe always of what I can get at the dollar store!
Oh, this is beautiful. Unfortunately I can`t do it in my garden as I have boys.
Great idea!

You know what's funny, is that my children have been doing stories in it. Yesterday I found some LEGO figurines in the garden!
So much fun! I definitely will do this with Kiernan when she's a little older. And I want to make little Fairy Doors with her, too.
